Pigging Out: Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask Review

Blackheads: they’re gross and they happen to almost everyone.  Well I’m about to introduce you to a potential gamechanger–something more effective than the normal clay masks and nose strip that I’ve tried recently.

01 Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask ReviewThe Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask ($20 for 100 ml) wins for both Cutest Name and Most Matter-of-Fact Name.  Because really, it is exactly a clay mask that bubbles up with carbonation.

How adorable is that pig?

This mask was recommended to me by the sales associate at oo35mm, who thought it was a gentler option for women’s skin than the–for lack of a better description–pore suction gun that I was holding.

Phase 1: Clay mask.  Smear the mask onto clean, dry skin with the included spatula.  It applies like a normal clay mask except a little gooier.  I did just my T-zone.

Phase 2: Sparkling pavement.  Within seconds, tiny little bubbles start forming on the surface.  The mask also starts turning from dark gray to shark gray.

Phase 3: Full-on bubble monster.  Within 5 minutes, the mask has turned entirely into foamy, puffy bubbles.  At this point, the bubbles can feel ticklish and you resemble a barnacled sea monster.

Phase 4: Clay mask again. After the mask has been on for 5 minutes, begin massaging your face with wet fingertips.  (The mask never really dries.)  As the bubbles deflate, the mask feels like a clay mask once again.  Massage and rinse off.  Like any clay mask, it takes some elbow grease to wash the mask off entirely.

So what happened?

Before: Blackheads are embedded in skin.

07 Before Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay MaskImmediately after: Blackheads are still there but visibly pulled to the surface, making them ripe for the picking.  Muahahahaha!

08 After Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble ClayAfter manual extraction: I used a pair of clean, sharp slant-tipped tweezers to literally pluck out blackheads one by one.  Holding the skin taut, it was painless and easy to extract them.  My nose pores remain large, but they’re at least clean.

09 After Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble ClayI usually avoid applying my cushion compact over my nose because it just doesn’t apply smoothly, but after the mask and extraction, I had no problem!  One week later, my nose is still clear of blackheads.

Renee tried the mask, too.  Although she doesn’t have any blackheads to begin with (don’t hate), the mask still left her skin smooth.

Pros: Easy and fun(ny) to use.  Pulls blackheads to the surface and leaves skin feeling smooth.  Not as drying as traditional clay masks.

Cons: Still need to manually remove blackheads.  Doesn’t improve appearance of pore size.

Warning: Scroll down only if you’re OK with seeing graphic photos of what I plucked from my pores.

    1. As often as needed, so long as it’s not drying out your skin. 🙂 Iused it the other week after, I don’t know, 6 months of not using it? I realized after I plucked all those blackheads that my skin doesn’t really get clogged up easily, so I could do without it for a while. Those blackheads were like, uh, years in the making. 😖

    1. Hi! As often as you like so long as you don’t feel like your skin is drying out. Maybe see how you like it 1x a week and then adjust based on how your skin feels? I have dry skin and use this only once every few months because my blackheads haven’t returned as badly as they were in this post.

  1. I have really sensitive skin, and I really like what this product does to the face. Can I still use it or will it make me break out?

    1. I have no idea how your skin will react. Everyone’s skin is a little different. If you’re concerned, do a test on a small patch of skin and wait a couple of days to see how you react.

    2. I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin, like everything breaks me out, and i havent had a problem at all with this product!(:

    1. As often as you like, so long as your skin isn’t drying out or getting irritated. This is a treatment mask (not a cleanser), so for me, I only use these kinds of masks 1-2x a week.

  2. Can I use this product more than once a day. I like to clean my face in the morning and at night. Is it ok to use this product twice a day?

      1. Completely understandable! I just got this product and have used it twice. Once the first day and again the second day. My skin is normally a combination of oily and dry skin (dominated by oily) It’s hard for me to deeply cleanse my skin for I feel my skin is a little tougher when it comes to breakouts and hardly anything works for unclogging my pores and clearing up any future breakouts. After using this product just twice now, my skin has felt rejuvenated and actually clean for the first time in a long time. I have had products dry my skin out in the past but so far my skin has felt perfectly moisturized without it feeling too oily. Also after using this product, I have no sensations of future pimples arising. After my second use yesterday, I already noticed some of the deep breakouts, I wasn’t expecting for another week to arise, had already found its way to the surface of my skin without it being infected or inflamed. If my results continue like this, would you still suggest that a daily use is dangerous or unhealthy for me? Also, if my results continue, I probably will use this product less anyways because I would be in lesser need of it everyday. My goal is to find a product that will actually clear my skin currently and for the future and so far this product has is showing me the results I’ve been hoping for. Thanks for your insight!

      2. I’m unqualified to say whether or not you should keep using it or if it’s dangerous or unhealthy.

Skincare is very personal and a lot of trial and error, so do what works for you and pay attention to how your skin feels. I can understand how it’d be hard to stop doing something if it’s working.

  3. I’m curious if there’s a home made version of this that could be just as effective … just a thought.
