Melty Stink: Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence Review

Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence (17 mL) from Japan claims to help create a double eyelid or a crease after regular use.  In theory, it reduces the fat underlying puffy eyelids.  Skeptical?  You should be.

01 Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence Review
“This special essence cares intensively for your eyelid. We are wishing that the happy future visits you.”

I gave it a try anyway, applying it to my upper eyelids morning and night for 2 months. I even used the Eyelid Trainer several times a week to help it along. Aaaaannd…?

It didn’t work.

Hooded Eyes

My eyes are still hooded and heavy. I haven’t seen any tightening or de-puffing of my upper lids.

The only upside is that it’s actually a decent serum that adds a little moisture to your eyelids without adding weight and texture and without affecting the application of eye makeup.

02 Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence ReviewIt comes in a small pump bottle and applies as a colorless, watery liquid that absorbs quickly.  I like to pump a small drop onto the tip of my left ring finger, smush my ring fingers together, and then smooth the serum onto both eyelids.  (It’s just thick enough not to run into your eyes.)

As you can see, it adds a little moisture similar to how a hyaluronic acid serum or toner might.

After: Plumped up

A little goes a long way.  Even after regular use, the bottle is still 80% full.

According to this page on Rakuten, these are the ingredients:

Water, BG, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, glycosyl trehalose, hydrogenated starch hydrolysate, パルミトイルテトラペプチド-7, dipeptide-2, steareth-20, ヘスペリジンメチルカルコン, acetyl hexapeptide-8, アセチルテトラペプチド-5, palmitoyl oligopeptide, polysorbate 20, carbomer, licorice root extract, Fullerene, PVP, panthenol, horse chestnut extract, ブッチャブ root extract, Glycyrrhizic acid ammonium, CENTELLA asiatica extract, Hydrolyzed yeast protein, Calendula officinalis flower extract, lactic acid Bacillus / grape juice fermented, lactobacillus / PEAR juice fermented, alginate-シロキサントリ all, caffeine, horsetail extract, セイヨウアカマツ spherical fruit extract, hop ex, lemon, Rosemary extract, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben

Basically, the top ingredients are hydrating (glycerin, hyaluronic acid).  Caffeine–a de-puffing ingredient–is way down the list.

05 Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence Review 06 Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence ReviewI’ll keep using this serum for the hydrating effect.  However, I wouldn’t repurchase because it’s very expensive for what it does–and for what it doesn’t.

Pros: Light, weightless moisture.

Cons:  Expensive for essentially a lightly hydrating serum.  Doesn’t live up to its claims.
