When Renee visited me a few weeks ago, she brought along a new toy: the Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip “lip wardrobe” ($59). It’s a limited edition/holiday 2015 release containing 15 lip colors (4 full size) ranging in colors, formulas, and finishes: from tinted balms to matte liquid lipsticks and from plumping glosses to vampy creams.
We decided to swatch them with Indya (Bella Noir Beauty) so that you could see how they looked on our fair, medium, and dark skin tones. We’re all warm-toned, but I’m NC15, Renee is Not Chanel 35, and Indya is NC50.
Here’s a 2-minute vid where we model (using that word very liberally) every single color.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention
Lavender is one of my favorite colors, so I was excited to try out some purple lippies from Renee’s stash: Peripera Peri’s Tint Milk in 3 Milky Lavender and Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Violet.
Purple lipsticks are usually hard for me to pull off, generally making my skin and teeth look sickly yellow. (See, e.g., MAC Lavender Whip and Purple Rite lipsticks.) But these skew pink on my naturally pinkish lips, making them wearable but perhaps disappointing if you were hoping for true purple.
Fuchsia lips? Sooooo last summer. Well I still love fuchsia but obsessed with its cousin: vibrant violet!

I was at Bite Beauty Lab in soho last week and swung by to see what’s crackin. For the unfamiliar, this is a place where you can mix your own colors and the Bite Beauticians will bake it into your own custom Bite lipstick. Art and personalization and makeup in one! And if you are one of those ladies that are constantly looking for the “perfect” shade of red or nude or whatever: this is YOUR dream come true.
