Lavender is one of my favorite colors, so I was excited to try out some purple lippies from Renee’s stash: Peripera Peri’s Tint Milk in 3 Milky Lavender and Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Violet.
Purple lipsticks are usually hard for me to pull off, generally making my skin and teeth look sickly yellow. (See, e.g., MAC Lavender Whip and Purple Rite lipsticks.) But these skew pink on my naturally pinkish lips, making them wearable but perhaps disappointing if you were hoping for true purple.
Milky Lavender is an apt description of the Peripera tint in the bottle. It requires at least two layers. It ultimately dries to a matte finish, so adding lip balm is necessary. After three or four layers, my lips were a cool-toned soft pink color.
Renee has already reviewed the Bite Beauty pencil here and you can see how it looks more purple on her. Described on Sephora as lavender violet, it looks like a cool-toned medium hot pink on my lips. Like a lavender-tinted fuchsia. I loved the full coverage and staying power.
Final verdict: The Peripera tint is meh because of how much layering is required to get the color to show up. You also can’t put on infinite layers to continually build the color because at some point the product starts to gunk up on your lips. The Bite Beauty pencil is awesome.
Nail polish is Essie Splash of Grenadine.
