My Serendipities: Holika Holika Dodo Cat Lip Tint Bar

My Serendipities Holika Holika Dodo CatMy Serendipities is Toronto-based Joann who, like us, loves cats.  (Which did not influence our pick at all, no siree.)  The Holika Holika Dodo Cat Lip Tint Bar is a heart, pink, and covered in cats–infinitely Instagrammable in other words.  Check out Joann’s review and demo of this Dior Lip Glow-esque balm.

Scratch that Ichimi Cosme – Asian Beauty Store Review

September 2016 UPDATE: Ichimi Cosme changed its name to Ume Cosme.  Instagram and Yelp links have been updated.

Today’s post is a closer look–in pictures–at Japanese and Korean beauty store Ichimi Cosme in New York’s East Village.  That link will take you to Renee’s first look at the store, and Ichimi Cosme is also on Instagram and Yelp.

01 Ichimi Cosme ShoppingThat’s Renee shopping because I was in the midst of my no-buy when we went ::quietly sobs::

Ichimi is located at:

318 E. 9th St
New York, NY 10003
(between 1st and 2nd Ave.)

What I love about Ichimi Cosme is that it offers a ton of Japanese beauty brands that weren’t available before in NY (at least not as far as we two shopaholics knew).  Los Angeles (including the Asian suburb of San Gabriel Valley) has long had tons of Japanese offerings.  (I’ve posted shopping guides on LA shopping and specifically Takashima in the SGV before.) Butt In & Butt Out: What’s in Angela’s Bag (Beanpole x Kakao-Apeach Heritage Mini Tote)

See the last edition of this post, featuring a Paul & Joe crossbody cat bag.

01 Beanpole Kakao Apeach ToteSun’s out, buns out!

If you follow us on Instagram, you’ll know my (Angela’s) enchantment with a plump little guy named Apeach. Apeach is one of the characters in the instant-messaging app KakaoSouth Korea’s most popular with 93% of smartphone users using it, I might add–and is ostensibly a genetically engineered peach. HA! And double HA!

HE’S A BUTT. Plain and simple. Ass clear ass day.

I’m so enchanted by Apeach that I bum-rushed the Beanpole website when I spotted Apeach wallets, handbags, luggage tags, and MOAR. They’re part of a collab that Beanpole, a Korean fashion brand, did with Kakao featuring all the major characters. Seoulmates? Pink Seoul K-beauty Subscription Box Review

01 Pink Seoul ReviewPink Seoul is a newcomer on the K-beauty subscription box scene. Intrigued by some of their distinguishing features (which I’ll get into below), we accepted a box to review courtesy of Pink Seoul. Was I Seoul-ed or do I still need to Pink about it?

What Makes Pink Seoul Different from Other K-Beauty Subscription Boxes?

Pink Seoul offers 3 types of subscription boxes: the regular box is $39.95 every 2 months, the Plus box is recommended for ages 35+ and $49.95 every 2 months, and the Mask box is $29.95 monthly.  Read more about the differences here.  Free shipping to all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands; extra for other destinations.  Use code FRIENDS10 for 10% off your first box. Going for Gold: Tatcha Camellia Moisturizing Lip Balm Review

Tatcha, Tatcha, Tatcha, Taaaaatch me! I wanna be dirty. -Rocky Horror Picture Show

Introducing Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm ($36 for 8g/0.28 oz.; sent by Tatcha for consideration).

01 Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm Review

Yes, you read that right.  24-KARAT GOLD.  Fahncy!  ::holds lip balm with pinkie in the air::  Even the box is fahncy (it’s currently holding hair ties on my vanity), and the jar is glass.

Topped with a delicate square of 24-karat gold leaf, the balm itself is a colorless firm jelly.  The consistency is slippery, shiny, and thin with not a hint of wax–a big plus to me because I’m not a fan of waxy balms such as Fresh’s Sugar lip balms, which don’t add moisture or work well with lipstick.  My preferences run along the lines of Dior Lip Glow for day and Hourglass Lip Oil or Vaseline for night. Whoo-ville! – The History of Whoo Secret Court Lip Balm Set

In the spirit of holiday consumption I picked up this set at Magic Belle in San Gabriel (bitchy and cold salesgirls who didn’t even give me samples btw.) Swoooon! Or should I say swhoon? 🙂

Behold The History of Whoo Secret Court Lip Balm Set

Considering how  expensive The History of Whoo is, I thought it was a bargain at $35. It comes in a mini-sized box and it features a lip balm in the middle, a mini lipstick in their signature etched golden lipstick case, and a mini calligraphy style lip brush.   Continue reading “Whoo-ville! – The History of Whoo Secret Court Lip Balm Set”

Give Me Bore: Sephora “Give Me More Lip” Review and Swatches on 3 Skintones…and YouTube!

01 Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip Review 2015

When Renee visited me a few weeks ago, she brought along a new toy: the Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip “lip wardrobe” ($59).  It’s a limited edition/holiday 2015 release containing 15 lip colors (4 full size) ranging in colors, formulas, and finishes: from tinted balms to matte liquid lipsticks and from plumping glosses to vampy creams.

We decided to swatch them with Indya (Bella Noir Beauty) so that you could see how they looked on our fair, medium, and dark skin tones.  We’re all warm-toned, but I’m NC15, Renee is Not Chanel 35, and Indya is NC50.

Here’s a 2-minute vid where we model (using that word very liberally) every single color.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention

WE HAVE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL NOW!

Well Red – NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Burlesque

Once in a blue moon I’d wear lip stick. Now that fall is here, and the nasty upper lip sweat is no longer an hourly occurrence, I’m diving deep into these crimson, burgundy, vampire hues. So exciting and thrilling….like the original Dracula, and NOT like the new Twilight series. Vampires used to be sexy. Now they just glow like Korean pop stars. But I digress, of course.

From the free files graciously donated to us by NYX Cosmetics comes this lippie. I didn’t think much of it because it looked like a dark reddish brown in the tube. But I was feeling in the mood to #shopyourstash, so I grabbed it: The High Voltage Lipstick in Burlesque
