Let’s talk about necks, ba-by! Let’s talk about you and me. -Salt-N-Pepa
I don’t think I’m sticking my neck out when I say that most people overlook theirs. Not enough moisture or anti-aging ingredients, and too many lines from looking down at your phone for Neko Atsume updates. (When will I spot Guy Furry?!)
While frolicking with Angela in Flushing, Queens, in July, we came across The Face Shop which had the ENTIRE line of The Face Shop x KaKao Friends collection. Not one to hesitate at grabbing ANYTHING cyyyute and yellow, I was immediately drawn to the below.
And yes, I am posting something I saw in July for TWO reasons: I spent July-September in Europe with crappy wi-fi. And I just actually finished the entire tube of this, so the experiment is complete.

Let’s talk about size matters, i.e., matters of size. (What, you thought I was making a juvenile joke on this classy blog?)
How many times have you found in your stash a full container of face mask that was used only twice in the last 6 months? Well Nügg sent us several of their single-serving* mask pods to try, and I never thought I’d say this but…smaller is better. (OK, that was the juvenile joke.)
*More like double and triple serving! There’s seriously a lot in there.
In this case, the tiny size makes them perfect for:
Will you be in NY on Wed. August 24, 2016? Then drop everything and get yourself to the 2nd Annual Peach & Lily Sample Sale!
We’re bummed to have to miss it (we’ll both be in London doing non-Kbeauty shopping!), but how awesome is it that Peach & Lily is making it an annual event. Yahoooo!
Read Renee’s account of last year’s sample sale to prepare. I’m still working through my haul from last year!
Another couple of months and another sweet work surpurrrrrrise from PinkSeoul! The July/August PLUS box that was sent to us for review contained a couple of items that tickled many of our viewers: the Rose Essence Soft Cream Blusher from Skinfood and the Benton Fermentation, among others.
Behold the PinkSeoul July/August bi-monthly Subscription Box:
This is the July/August PinkSeoul PLUS Box. Skin type: Normal. Area of Focus: Pigmentation
Given K-beauty’s knack for collaborations with cute cartoons and mascots, it was only a matter of when, not oeuf, a Gudetama collaboration would happen.
Well Holika Holika fulfilled this egg-lover’s dream in May with a skincare and makeup collection featuring everyone’s favorite lazy, apathetic egg. I seriously can’t get un oeuf of my Gudies.
And THEN I discovered that there were also Gudetama sheet masks from Japan and Taiwan (by My Scheming no less!) Apparently, un oeuf is notun oeuf when it comes to milking a cash cow.
When the AB See link party (for bloggers and readers alike) took on the topic of sun protection, that was the push for me to finally–finally, midway through the summer–post a roundup of (almost all) the Japanese sunscreens that I’ve tried in the last two years. All of them are SPF 50+ PA++++, which is apparently hard to formulate well because I’ve had way more misses than hits!
These are the sunscreens reviewed in this post, in order of preference:
Biore, Shiseido, Nivea, Sun Bears–those are some of the frequently mentioned brands when the topic of Japanese sunscreens come up in Asian beauty circles.
Solanoveil was new to me when I spotted it on Ratzilla Cosme, as a Best Pick no less! So I took a chance and ordered a bottle–sparking a loyalty to the brand that’s still going strong as multiple repurchases can confirm.
In the last year, I’ve tried both Solanoveil Watery Essence and Solanoveil Watery Gel (Ratzilla’s Best Pick), so this post reviews and compares the two. For reference, my skin is normal in the summer, dry and flaky in the winter, and I always wear foundation on top (mineral powder or cushion compact).
Tis the season of travelling, and TRYING to travel light and pass TSA checks and all that b.s. Thus I am enthusiastic about any beauty products that come in powder form. That means you can carry way over the pesky 3 fl oz rule, be adequately ensured that you have enough in the case of an apocalypse, and avoid spills.
