Kracie (formerly Kanebo) Wakanka Super Moisturizing Facial Essence is pretty lightweight for being “super moisturizing” and reasonably priced at $30. I was in need of an essence/serum/ treatment between my toner/balancer and my moisturizer so I randomly picked this up and the tester swatch was just the right texture.
It doesn’t have a word of English on it except for the name. But there was an English ingredient label. Too bad it contains parabens (which are really just preservatives). But along with parabens are a bunch of fruit and plant extracts. The entire Wakanka line claims to focus on “anti-aging with the help of natural vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants found in Asian plants and herbs.” A few of the ingredients include licorice extract, litchi chinensis seed extract, averrhoa carambola fruit extract. Sounds nice to me.
Here’s the texture: kind of a translucent cream. Looks…like…something…ahem. Anyway, it goes on smoothly and seems to balance the dryness and oiliness in my combination skin.
Overall a B+ kind of product. Fragrance-free and nice list of natural ingredients. I feel like it must be doing something but nothing drastic so I wouldn’t say it’s a miracle cream. In a pinch, it’ll do, sorta like those basic Oil-of-Olay over the counter serums.
Pros: reasonably priced, moisturizing without being too thick, a little product goes a long way
Cons: nothing spectacular…and my overstuffed medicine cabinet/ makeup bag/ cosmetic bag/ travel toiletries bag can’t fit anything except full-blown miracles!
