Snow Regrets: Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Moisture Watery Cream Review (Pink for Dry Skin)

Way too long ago, we went to the Nature Republic store in Flushing, Queens. The Super Aqua Max Moisture Watery Cream caught my eye. Primarily because there was a tall display and it was on sale, ahem . . . This gel-cream comes in 3 formulas: blue for oily skin, green for combo skin, and pink for dry skin.

01 Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Moisture Watery Cream Pink ReviewI went with the pink one since (freakin’ neverending) winter and tretinoin have left my skin on the dry side. It boasts 30 different marine plant extracts, 24-hour moisturizing and firming effect, and a protective-layer-forming silicone gel formula.

Note: The packaging advertises that this is the “BIG SIZE!” but this seems to be the only size offered. It’s 80ml/2.7 fl. oz., which is more than some moisturizers (which are often under 2 fl. oz.). But since I apply this generously (more on that in a sec), it’s not as if this will last significantly longer than other moisturizers.

03 Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Moisture Watery Cream Pink ReviewThe last time I used a gel-cream was back in college, when I had oily-combo skin. Since I’ve grown older wiser, I’ve needed heavier formulas. So I was skeptical about the efficacy of this oil-free formula aaaaand unfortunately my skepticism was validated.

It goes on like a light, refreshing infusion of water and takes several minutes to sink in. However, the moisture doesn’t last the whole day or the whole night, even when the cream is applied generously or even when layered on top of moisturizing toners and facial oil.

Maybe it will work in the summer, when it’s humid and sweaty, but it definitely does not work right now. I think even oily skin could use this formula. I’ve since moved on to another moisturizer and will try this again when the weather warms up.

Pros: Light, refreshing feeling. Probably works for normal or oily skin.

Cons: Insufficient and short-lived hydration for dry skin.

  1. I have oily/combo skin and used the green one of these and came to the same conclusion! it’s not enough for wintery weather but I do think it will work well in summer!
