#beautyselfie is my homage to Into the Gloss’s Top Shelf and Get It Beauty’s Talking Mirror series.
This inaugural #beautyselfie post features my friend Thuc, whose beauty style is playful and bright. She doesn’t wear much makeup on a day-to-day basis, but she can pull off lipstick from hot fuchsia to hot orange to hot magenta purple to, well, hot anything!
Read on as Thuc shares her beauty favorites . . .
Current Makeup Staples
I just learned about highlighting and contouring. It makes such a big difference. I’m currently using the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette in Streak (bronzer+highlighter+blush) for that. As you can see, I’ve pretty much used up my Urban Decay Baked Bronzer in Baked to the pan [ed. note: it’s discontinued]. I use that as eyeshadow sometimes. I’m also liking the Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil in NSA to clean up and define the edges of my brows . . . but it’s running out after only 3 weeks! Look at it!
I’m also really liking the Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder–so good in humid NY and DC weather. My sister introduced me to elf Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal, which I love. I’m not that into eyeshadows any more, but I’ll use this as a quick shimmery wash on my eyes. For mascara, Benefit They’re Real! makes my lashes look really long and thick.
I started thickening my eyebrows. My eyebrows have been naturally thin ever since I shaved them off in high school. (Big mistake!) For years, I filled them in following their natural shape. But I’m into the thick-brow look now; it feels more modern and it really makes you look younger.
Elta MD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46. It has a great consistency and can be used as a primer. It’s not oily like other sunscreens. [Ed. note: This was my favorite too last summer. It has niacinamide to help lighten hyperpigmentation and, if you have normal-oily skin, it can replace moisturizer.]
Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow in Dark Brown. [Ed. note: Thuc has used Aqua Brow for as long as I’ve known her. And bareMinerals. The girl knows what she likes.]
Thanks to Thuc and thanks for reading!
