Blake Unlively: TonyMoly Kiss Lover Live Tint #1 Live Pink Review

01 TonyMoly Kiss Lover Live Tint #1 Live Pink ReviewTonyMoly Kiss Lover Live Tint in #1 Live Pink looks like a gorgeous faintly neon pink coral in the bottle. (It looks like a bright pastel here, but that’s only because my camera couldn’t capture the neon-ness.) The texture is thin and liquidy: slightly heavier than a typical watery lip tint but lighter than some milky lip tints.

I turned up the saturation in the swatch photos to reflect the fluorescent brightness that’s visible in real life. Although it looks like a neon jelly in the bottle and during application, it dries to a bright-but-not-quite-hot warm-toned pink. As time goes on, the color settles into a darker bright pink and leaves a slightly sticky texture on the lips. Although it doesn’t moisturize, it doesn’t dry out the lips either.

Although the stain looks pretty (albeit ordinary) in the photos, keep in mind that the photos were taken right after application.

The disappointment comes with how unevenly it fades. Worn alone and without eating or drinking, it begins fading within 2 hours. Although the pink color is still apparent and looks passable from a distance (and lasts for hours after that), a close-up examination reveals that the color has clung most strongly to the inside and the outer edges, leaving a pallid, colorless band across the middle of the top lip. I’ve worn this a few times now and I always end up with that pale band on my top lip.

To sum up, this is best used as a base for a balm, gloss, or other lip product that can help hide the uneven fading, which kicks in too quickly for the stain to be used alone. The color is also unfortunately not as neon as initial appearances suggest.

Pros: Sinks in quickly. Stain lasts for hours. Doesn’t dry out lips.

Cons: Color is duller on the lips than it is in the bottle. Unattractive and uneven fading. Feels sticky after it dries.

Purchased at the newly opened TonyMoly store in Annandale in northern Virginia. It’s small but has tons of products with testers and bright lighting.
