Bunch Abalone – The Yeon Clean Sea Nutritive Abalone Mask

Abalone is one of those mysterious Asian food items that I often crave because it’s expensive and associated with happy family wedding/red egg/Chinese New Year banquets. I also love the crunchy bouncy gelatin texture. Until recently, I had no idea what it really is or how it’s obtained.

I thought it’s a sort of clam. Well….sorta. It’s a “marine gastropod mollusc” or marine snail.

We go from garden snail to marine snail in the world of Asian beauty. A natural segue dontcha think? =)

Fond of Ewe – Spring Leaf Lanolin Cream

From the LA haul this summer comes a very ewenique item: the Spring Leaf Lanolin Cream with Placenta Extract and Vitamin E. Technically, this isn’t an Asian Beauty product, but I did obtain it from an Asian Beauty store, where it was highly featured. I mean, with an unusual ingredient like lanolin and a placenta (whose placenta?) it fits perfectly into my beauty routine. Except for one thing….

Indi-go-go – Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Hand Cream

The nice folks at Tatcha sent me a care package out of the blue (har har.) The number of packages, big and small, at work are making my banking bosses side-eye. Whatevs. T’is the season for brown packages, bauss. But thank you Tatcha for the nice surprise below. I will commence reviewing that ultra luxurious hand cream: the Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Hand Cream. They even included a sweet hand-written note. Wetting Zoo: SNP Face Art Mask-Rabbit Whitening & Cat Wrinkle Review

We were browsing at New Kam Man in Chinatown (NY) last weekend when–of course–this cat mask by SNP caught our eye. Thankfully, because I’m overloaded with sheet masks as it is, they were available individually, so I picked up one along with a rabbit mask ($3.25 or $3.50 apiece).

SNP Rabbit Whitening Cat Wrinkle Face Art Mask Review 01
The salty one in the middle is not for sale.

These were part of a (modest) haul from oo35mm and New Kam Man.  Unh, I love NY for Asian beauty shopping.  (But not as much as I love LA! Renee and I are going to break the bank when we’re there together during Christmas. 😉 Just you watch…)

Cry for Kelp – Tony Moly Kelp Mask Sheet (Boosting)

Yesterday while in Chinatown, NY waiting for Amy and Evelyn to arrive for dinner at the local authentic Chinese cuisine eating hole, I *accidentally* wandered into oo35mm and The Yeon and came out with this Tony Moly mask made of kelp. Yeah, as in, the mask sheet itself is MADE of seaweed. I was so intrigued. Is it deep sea kelp that mermaids make their skirt out of? Is it that annoying green plastic sheet stuff that tangle up on your legs after a storm in Miami Beach? Look at that delicious slick bouncy seaweed in that bowl on the package!

Less Is Lovemore: Review of Lovemore Black Pearls True White + Pearl Barley & Milk Smoothing Mask Sheets

01 Lovemore Sheet Mask ReviewGiven that they’re made of silk, I wish I had a better impression of these Lovemore sheet masks. I first heard about them from raves about the silk’s second-skin fit, which, to be sure, is its standout quality.  The two flavors that I tried were Black Pearls and Pearl Barley & Milk.

Lovemore is a bit pricier than most sheet masks–I got them at Image Beauty when they were on sale for $10 for a box of 5, and they’re $3 apiece at U.S.-based MelodyCosme here and here (no affiliation)–so naturally I had high expectations.  (For comparison, I’m used to paying $1-$1.50 per mask by My Beauty Diary or My Scheming.  People in Taiwan are cackling right now at how much I pay.)
