During my quest for the perfect jet black, micron-sharp liquid eyeliner, I was introduced to KOSE Fasio Film Liquid Eyeliner. I don’t know why it’s called “film” but guess that the liquid liner becomes almost like a plasticized ink line on your lid and only comes off with strong waterproof makeup remover and vigorous scrubbing.

The line is very sharp but I have to still do 2-3 runs to get the jet black color because the tip is so thin. The smaller the tip, the harder it is to get a vivid super black line on your eyelid. I think it’s because it’s hard for the ink to fully flow to such a small tip. See below.

Clio Waterproof Brush Liner in Kill Black is my latest eyeliner love. It combines the best of everything from my other faves: namely, the precise brush tip and smooth flow of the Physicians Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner and the no-smudge longevity of the Blinc Liquid Eyeliner Pen.

I once coveted MAC’s Russian Red but thought it was too blue for me. Yes reds can be blue right? And boom, Ben Nye comes in a sweeps me off of my feet with the perfect shade of vs vs voom holiday red. Not Bill Nye the science guy but Ben Nye the makeup guy!

TonyMoly Kiss Lover Live Tint in #1 Live Pink looks like a gorgeous faintly neon pink coral in the bottle. (It looks like a bright pastel here, but that’s only because my camera couldn’t capture the neon-ness.) The texture is thin and liquidy: slightly heavier than a typical watery lip tint but lighter than some milky lip tints.

One of my biggest peeves is red-toned eyebrows. I have dark brown hair with reddish/orange tones in certain lighting, but even then, reddish brows look plain unnatural. I always prefer a cool, ashy brown or taupe. As it is, any color will appear warmer once applied to my warm-toned skin.

The Anna Sui Eyebrow Color Compact in 03 Ash Brown ($28) caught my eye because it includes a distinctive green shade. That’s right, green. Continue reading “The Pursuit of Ashiness: Anna Sui Eyebrow Color Compact 03 Ash Brown Review”
It takes a shit load of makeup to look “naturally pretty,” as my IT cosmetics palette indicates below:

If by “brightening” Pacifica means lots of frost over my eyes, then yeah it’s brightening. I wanted to love this palette so bad. I wanted it to love me. I wanted to introduce my family to it. But nay. On to the next one.

The Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation is one of the highest rated foundations on MakeupAlley.com. At $62 it’s also one of the most expensive. And…although I do love it for my skin, it certainly isn’t for everyone. Because it’s too damn sheer for an “HD foundation.” Case in point: look below and tell me which pic is the “foundation” pic:

Yes it’s the bottom one, by a small margin.
