Tea-tree Dish: Naruko Tea Tree Overnight Blemish Clear Powder Review

Normally, just hearing “tea tree” dries me right up. Tea tree oil saps the joy out of skincare as fast as it does sebum from skin. With its medicinal smell and astringent qualities and with my dryish skin, tea tree has never been at the top of my list.  (Oily-skinned folks might beg to differ. Michele at Unboxing Beauty even reviewed allll the tea-tree stuphs here.)

But recently, I was in search of a loose powder to prime my skin for mineral powder (my go-to foundation in summer).

Just the (Makeup) Tip : Struggling with powder foundation applying patchily and unevenly? In addition to washing your brushes, try applying loose translucent powder beforehand (I apply after sunscreen and before mineral powder). This creates a smooth canvas and sops up residual dampness that would otherwise cause the foundation to stick unevenly to skin.

Naruko Tea Tree Overnight Blemish Clear Powdercaught my eye at Beauty Tips in Monterey Park, Calif. (As an authorized retailer of Naruko, Beauty Tips has by far the largest selection of Naruko I’ve seen in a brick-and-mortar. All available to swatch!)

Eastern Promises Part 2: Angela’s Skincare Routines–August 2015

Read Part 1–Translating Between the Asian and Western Skincare Routine–here.

Broken down into components of CLEANSE, TONE, TREAT, MOISTURIZE, the routines in this post list what I’m currently using the majority of the time and why (and also link to my reviews if there is one).

I do occasionally use something else in my stash just because I feel like it or am bored. There are two exceptions: (1) When I review skincare provided for free by a company, I test that item continuously so that you can be sure my opinion isn’t compromised by lax testing. (2) I want/need to use Shark Sauce and my PocketDerm prescription (referral link) consistently–2x/day and 1x/day respectively.

Mousse Season: Naruko Raw Job’s Tears Supercritical CO2 Brightening Make-up Removing Cleansing Mousse Review

01 Naruko Raw Jobs Tears Supercritical CO2 Brightening Make-up Removing Cleansing Mousse ReviewFrom Naruko’s Raw Job’s Tears line, Supercritical CO2 Brightening Make-up Removing Cleansing Mousse ($19 for 5.25 fl. oz.) is a self-foaming makeup remover. The lather is fluffy like the Hada Labo face wash I reviewed before. But this is no ordinary face wash; you apply this foam to dry skin.

Directions: Apply 3 pumps to dry skin, massage, then rinse off. (One pump is shown above.)

Super Triple Heeeeyyy~! Naruko AMPM Super Triple HA Hydrating Souffle Review

01 Naruko ampm Super Triple HA Hydrating Souffle ReviewNaruko is a Taiwanese skincare brand headed up by a man named Niuer and focuses a lot on natural and plant-based ingredients. It has various lines targeted at different skincare issues. From Naruko’s AMPM line, I purchased the Super Triple HA Hydrating Souffle.

“Super Triple HA” refers to the three forms of hyaluronic acid in the ingredients. Although I think something got lost in translation because the English ingredients list includes sodium hyaluronate twice as well as hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid.

First, I bought some cotton pads to remove eye makeup.  After Costco stopped offering my favorite Denon cotton pads (cheap and didn’t disintegrate or shed lint), I’ve been trying out different drugstore offerings and some Asian ones that I had lying around.  They’ve all been meh.  Here’s hoping these are better.
