Hail Hydra! – Sexylook Full Hydra Effect + Neck Cotton Black Mask

The Sexylook black mask series are a new fun find for me from the Taiwan trip. Because…dun dun DUN…they contain jellyfish extract (new species added to beauty regimen) and snail extract (classic favorite.)

Look at it; it contains jellyfish. Nom nom nom. I love eating them in dim sum…sliced and dipped in red wine vinegar…and I guess those gelatinous springy creatures contain some sort of hydrophilic quality that helps the skin?

Mane Squeeze – Haruhada Horse Oil Body Cream

The first thing I bought in my trip to Taiwan was horse fat body cream. Because I say neigh, neigh, to flaky dry skin and had forgotten my body lotion at home.

This is a Japanese import product and you can get it at SASA in Taipei. According to their claims, it’s “formulated with Hokkaido pure horse oil, Shea butter, Aloe Vera, Urea etc.  It can be easily absorbed, smoothes , and moisturizes dry & sensitive skin.” There’s a small amount of lavender oil in it to make it smell…not like beef jerky fat. Snow Regrets: Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Moisture Watery Cream Review (Pink for Dry Skin)

Way too long ago, we went to the Nature Republic store in Flushing, Queens. The Super Aqua Max Moisture Watery Cream caught my eye. Primarily because there was a tall display and it was on sale, ahem . . . This gel-cream comes in 3 formulas: blue for oily skin, green for combo skin, and pink for dry skin.

01 Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Moisture Watery Cream Pink ReviewI went with the pink one since (freakin’ neverending) winter and tretinoin have left my skin on the dry side. It boasts 30 different marine plant extracts, 24-hour moisturizing and firming effect, and a protective-layer-forming silicone gel formula.

A Blush with Fame: DIY Cushion Blush Tutorial + Heavy Rotation Creamy Cheeks 02 Cutie Pink Review

01 DIY Custom Cushion Blush TutorialEmboldened by my DIY cushion compact experience, I decided to try making a cushion blush (a la IOPE Air Cushion Blusher). Unfortunately, as far as I know, there aren’t any premade mini-cushion compacts designed for DIY-ing. (Missha, A’Pieu, Memebox, you listening?)

Heavy Metal: NYX Suede Collection Palette Review + Swatches

01 NYX Suede Collection Palette ReviewThe NYX Suede Collection Palette is a collection of 8 eyeshadows, each with a metallic or shimmery finish. The shadows are reminiscent of Stila’s: the texture is almost as soft, lots of pigment, easy to blend. Surprisingly no fallout. The palette is a great value; the whole thing is cheaper than one Stila shadow! (It’s $12 for 8 shadows x 0.06 oz. each; provided for consideration by NYX). Considering that I rarely do strong eye makeup (Safe is my middle name), this is an ideal palette for those few times when I want an eye-catching (har har) look. In the hands of someone more experienced (like Renee), this palette could have epic potential. Continue reading “Heavy Metal: NYX Suede Collection Palette Review + Swatches”

Tai(wan) Me Up – My Trip to Taipei

Captain’s log: last day in Taipei 03/20/15 sitting outside fking SaSa waiting for it to open like I’m an addict at a methadone clinic. And guess what? There are a ton of others waiting with me!!!

This is my exact location, because you WILL want to visit this very spot (or any SaSa, but this location is your best bet to start) and walk east towards Taipei City Hall MRT station to find the biggest proliferation of Asian cosmetics in the area. Like, a LOT.

To Sea or Not to Searun – Magma Bath Salt Oyaji

Greetings from my sick bed in Taiwan. But let me start from the beginning. I’m here visiting my friend who’s in one of those maternity clinics after giving birth to her first baby. Women here can stay in the hospital center for up to a month, and everything is taken care of. After visiting her, I binge shopped and went to Taroko Gorge and got severely sick. This is my first post on my Taiwanese haul:

Tan in Bed: Vita Liberata Trystal Self Tanning Bronzing Minerals in Sunkissed Review + Swatches

The concepts behind the new self-tanning products by Vita Liberata are so seriously innovative, I can’t believe no one thought of them before. First, there’s the sleeping mask (update: disappointed review is here). Then there’s the mineral powder bronzer, which I’m reviewing here.
