Heavy Metal: NYX Suede Collection Palette Review + Swatches

01 NYX Suede Collection Palette ReviewThe NYX Suede Collection Palette is a collection of 8 eyeshadows, each with a metallic or shimmery finish. The shadows are reminiscent of Stila’s: the texture is almost as soft, lots of pigment, easy to blend. Surprisingly no fallout. The palette is a great value; the whole thing is cheaper than one Stila shadow! (It’s $12 for 8 shadows x 0.06 oz. each; provided for consideration by NYX). Considering that I rarely do strong eye makeup (Safe is my middle name), this is an ideal palette for those few times when I want an eye-catching (har har) look. In the hands of someone more experienced (like Renee), this palette could have epic potential. Continue reading “Heavy Metal: NYX Suede Collection Palette Review + Swatches”

Deck the Hauls: Aritaum in San Gabriel + Hauls

We met up in the San Gabriel Valley (you know, the other valley in LA) for some major hauling of Asian cosmetics.

We hit up our old favorites (see this post), including (not in that post) Maneki Neko in the Santa Anita Mall, Takashima in Arcadia, and Art Land in the San Gabriel Superstore.

But what’s the biggest development on the shopping front? The Amore store in the Focus/99 Ranch Plaza in San Gabriel is now an Aritaum. I REPEAT, WE HAVE AN ARITAUM.

HG & HD: Chacott Quick Eyeliner Review

01 Chacott Quick Eyeliner ReviewThe Chacott Quick Eyeliner in 356 Black ($18 for 0.016 oz. at Chacott’s online store or oo35mm) claims to be appropriate for HDTV.  I don’t know about that, but it is a saturated, glossy, jet black, waterproof formula that applies easily and precisely through a brush tip.  It’s my new favorite eyeliner, able to survive all day on hooded, oily eyelids.

Melty Stink: Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence Review

Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence (17 mL) from Japan claims to help create a double eyelid or a crease after regular use.  In theory, it reduces the fat underlying puffy eyelids.  Skeptical?  You should be.

01 Melty Wink Double Eyelid Essence Review
“This special essence cares intensively for your eyelid. We are wishing that the happy future visits you.”

I gave it a try anyway, applying it to my upper eyelids morning and night for 2 months. I even used the Eyelid Trainer several times a week to help it along. Aaaaannd…?

Luke, I Am Your Fasio – Fasio Film Liquid Liner

During my quest for the perfect jet black, micron-sharp liquid eyeliner, I was introduced to KOSE Fasio Film Liquid Eyeliner. I don’t know why it’s called “film” but guess that the liquid liner becomes almost like a plasticized ink line on your lid and only comes off with strong waterproof makeup remover and vigorous scrubbing.

IMG_3378.JPG
The line is very sharp but I have to still do 2-3 runs to get the jet black color because the tip is so thin. The smaller the tip, the harder it is to get a vivid super black line on your eyelid. I think it’s because it’s hard for the ink to fully flow to such a small tip. See below.

Killin’ It: Clio Waterproof Brush Liner Kill Black & O’Tank Volume Mascara Review

02 Clio Waterproof Brush Liner Kill Black ReviewClio Waterproof Brush Liner in Kill Black is my latest eyeliner love.  It combines the best of everything from my other faves: namely, the precise brush tip and smooth flow of the Physicians Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner and the no-smudge longevity of the Blinc Liquid Eyeliner Pen.
