Texas Fold ‘Em: Cogit Cats Eye Double Eyelid Tape Review

01 Cogit Cats Eye Double Eyelid Tape Review
Real-life quote from a guy

Renee and I recently majorly hauled at oo35mm in New York’s Chinatown. The quirkiest thing I bought was the Cogit Cats Eye Double Eyelid Tape ($16 for 20 pairs at oo35mm). It’s eyelid tape that comes with eyeliner already printed on. (There’s also a version with the eyeliner in a downturned puppy-dog-eye shape.) Brilliant, yeah?02 Cogit Cats Eye Double Eyelid Tape Review

It’s Getting Warm in Herre: Lunasol EX02 Warm Coral Collection Eyeshadow Palette Review

I may or may not have squeed when I saw this Lunasol eyeshadow palette from Lunasol’s 15th Anniversary Summer Eyes collection. (Spoiler alert: I squeed.)  EX02 Warm Coral Collection contains five beautiful shimmery shades. What drew me to this palette were the orange and pink shades. Browns, taupes, and beiges are usually what make up a natural eye makeup look, but interestingly, the trend in Korea calls for light pink and orange instead. After seeing some Korean tutorials and ads using pink and orange eyeshadow, I have to say that I see the light.

¡Eye Carumba! Review of Eyelid Trainer

01 Eyelid Trainer Review
No, your eyes don’t stay this big once you take it off.

WTF File No. 2 is . . . drumroll please . . . the Eyelid Trainer!

I can’t make too much fun of this one since I actually tested it for several weeks and saw subtle results. The Eyelid Trainer consists of 2 flexible arcs of thin plastic attached onto a modified eyeglass frame.  The purpose of this contraption is to train your eyelids to fold–to either fold at all or to fold at a higher place/rounder shape.  That’s my best guess anyway.  I can’t read Japanese.

Lash Out! – déjàvu Fiberwig Extra Long Mascara

I almost never wear mascara. I used to…until several incidents where I over-crimped the lashes on one eye and all of them broke off and stuck onto the curler. It looked like my sleeping eye was on the curler!

But enough about that fiasco. Occasionally I will try a new mascara because I am inspired by an ad or because I need a new product to be excited about. Most of the time the overpriced tube of mascara (Estée Lauder lash lift mascara-discontinued, Dior Show waterproof, Max Factor, etc) gets tossed into my 2×4 foot makeup bin.

This is the next one: déjàvu Fiberwig Extra Long mascara. I got a combo set which came with a tiny tube for the bottom lashes. Squee! Cute!

Lash Sale: Latisse/Bimatoprost/Careprost Review + Before & After Pics

CAUTION: Latisse/bimatoprost/Careprost are prescription drugs.  Consult your doctor regarding use.  This post describes my personal experience and is not intended to provide medical advice or recommendations.

The prescription lash-growing drug Latisse by Allergan is notoriously expensive.  The good news is that there is a cheaper version available.  Latisse works because of the active ingredient bimatoprost.  This same ingredient is found in the same concentration (0.03% bimatoprost) in Careprost, a generic version available outside of the U.S.

01 Careprost PackagingI use it by squeezing a drop into the lid, dipping a (clean dry) eyeliner brush into the lid, and then applying the product on the upper lashline.  One drop is more than enough for both lashlines.

I apply it to a lashline that’s clean and free of any skincare products so that the product can absorb and also to avoid contaminating the brush and product.  I go from the inner corner to just short of the outer corner because, in past experience, I think some dripped down the outer corner and caused some skin darkening.  Gosh, that sounds bad, but it’s really not.  I feel comfortable walking out without concealer and it’s easily covered up by a light concealer and looks like regular undereye darkening. You Go, Curl! Best Lash-Curling Mascaras for Hooded/Asian Eyes

After extensive (and expensive) trial and error, I’ve narrowed down the universe of mascaras that hold a curl the best. Hint: They’re not Chanel, Dior, Lancôme, Fiberwig, Josie Maran, Revlon, . . . I could go on. Even mascaras that specifically claim to hold a curl cannot always pass my stringent test.

01 Non Lash Curling Mascaras
All no go! Actually, the Fairydrops and Fiberwig might have been OK at curling but not consistently enough to warrant a recommendation

Maybe I’m asking for too much. I rely on my mascara to lift my hooded eyelids, which sliiiightly enlarges my eyes (relatively speaking; no one’s going to mistake me for a tarsier).

01a Best Lash Curling Mascara
A great mascara can hold up hooded eyelids, creating a (small) faux crease. My real crease is tucked underneath my eyelids.

Well anyway, if these work for me, they will surely work for ordinary lash-glamming needs. Continue reading “You Go, Curl! Best Lash-Curling Mascaras for Hooded/Asian Eyes”

Blue Steel: Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Curacao Review

They See Me Haulin’ Part 2: Haul Revealed

01 Psy Sheet Masks
Sheet masks that transform you into Psy. Heh, psyyy-ch!

Part 1 is here.

Ah, I bought too much in LA.  Some are gifts.  But let’s be real, most of it is for me.

02 Full Haul
Haul-la! The full haul+free samples

First, I bought some cotton pads to remove eye makeup.  After Costco stopped offering my favorite Denon cotton pads (cheap and didn’t disintegrate or shed lint), I’ve been trying out different drugstore offerings and some Asian ones that I had lying around.  They’ve all been meh.  Here’s hoping these are better. Phantastic Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum: Review

01 Physicians Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner Deep Brown Swatch Closeup
Wearing Physicians Formula eyeliner in Deep Brown

For years, I’ve been using the Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum.  Initially, it caught my eye because it boasted a Japanese formula, so I figured it had a better chance of being smudgeproof.  It also boasts of having serum properties to enhance eyelash health (implying that it will make lashes longer).  Overall, even though it’s not totally smudgeproof, it’s a product that I recommend and repurchase often.
