Reining Champ- MOAR Horse Oil

My absolute favorite equine find from the Taiwan stash was the 100% pure horse oil that I got from some Japanese import store. At $30 it was very expensive compared to cheaper horse oil alternatives…but those cheapies smell like Malaysian beef/horse jerky.

Yes this is basically rubbing pure room temperature liquid animal fat on your body. Before you say neigh…consider that this is better than Shea butter. Being made of pure fat, it makes your body incredibly soft. Like butter on my cat Roxy’s butter belly soft. Yet after a few minutes your skin is supple and not greasy at all.

Flashed Hopes: REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial Review…Sort Of

01 REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial ReviewI felt finally ready to review the REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial ($48 for 2.5 oz.). I had two deluxe samples that I’d been using every 3 to 5 days for the last 5 weeks. I thought I had enough information to assess the pros and cons. And then I thought of looking up reviews to see what others were thinking…and was shocked at what I found out.

A Doll’s House – Labocare Bright and Honey-Like Doll Mask

From the never ending Taipei stash comes this sheet mask branded with a doll with the creepiest empty stare. I guess it’s supposed to be a good thing to look like an angry….doll?

The ingredients are nothing out of the ordinary for these types of sheet masks. They were about $1 each so they were fun impulse buys. I have never seen them in the U.S. so there’s the rarity factor that appeals to me.

Drought Free: Dotfree Collagen Resilience Oil in Balm Cream Review

I was one day into my resolved no-buy (March and April) when I came across the Collagen Resilience Oil in Balm Cream by Dotfree in Make Asobi in LA’s Little Tokyo. Several minutes of rationalizing later, I was handing over my credit card. (I think I still get a pat on the back for leaving with only this. Er, although I get a kick in the face for how I did during the rest of my no-buy.)

They’re Guuuurrrrreat – Animal Face Pack

From the bizarre files of Japan skin care comes this sheet mask pack of 2 made with faces of a tiger and a panda from the Ueno Zoo printed on it:

It was part of the monthly-ish beauty box that Angela and I swap. We have a very popular and stylish beauty box (Rox Box) subscription service that’s ultra exclusive with membership of 2. Anyhow I was super excited to try these because I thought they would contain tiger and panda ingredients. No I didn’t really…:(

Gilty Pleasure – ELG Luxury Gold Collagen Eye Mask

From the Taiwan 03-2015 haul files come this little cheapie treasure of an eye mask. It cost $0.50! And the first ingredient is goooooold:

There are only ~10 ingredients and the first few seem natural and “good” for moisture. I think grape leaf extract is good for anti-aging. But I don’t know if this mask would do all that it promises because…who needs to minimize pores around the under eye area? I’m not even sure that our eye bags have pores. Anyways I just wanted a bit of hydration under my eyes because stupid New York has turned cold again (wtf happened to Spring??) Here is the ingredient list:  Continue reading “Gilty Pleasure – ELG Luxury Gold Collagen Eye Mask”

Mask and You Shall Receive – Muji’s Compressed Facial Mask Sheets

Since I brought a bunch of found-only-in-Asia sheet masks home from Taiwan, I’d been especially cheap with trying to make them last more than one use. No, GROSS, I am not saving the USED sheet mask. I am saving the leftover serum in the pouches. Usually there’s a couple of teaspoons of serum left in the tear away pouch. Voila! Instant mask #2 by using those pill-like compressed face mask sheets:
